Festive Makeup

I mixed a foundation and set it with translucent powder. I used red and gold for this look as red is a classic christmas colour and gold complements it.

I used a flat brush with red shadow to pack it into the crease and blended it out with a fluffy brush. Then a wiped the lid clean, added concealer and a gold shadow, under the lower lash line I put a small line of gold shadow. Then added mascara and eyeliner.

For the lips I painted them red and used gold glitter as a highlight. The gold went well although it did lead to some fall out and to improve I would learn how to better apply liner to hooded eyes.

Half Burnt Face

I applied a layer of latex across half of the face and once it dried I poked holes in it to create texture and lifted the under side to create the impression of peeling skin.

Then I added colour with cream paint to add depth to the holes I created, I used a water based paint to go over all of the latex on I powdered it. For the finishing touch I added fake liquid blood underneath the bottom of the latex and added thick blood in the holes and creases on the face.

Smokey Eye

To start with I applied a primer to prep the eyelids for the colour that was going to be applied, this was then set by with a cream colour for a base. I then started applying a warm brown shade in the outer corner and in the crease. Then from the outer corner of the eye I removed any excess shadow to create a wing shape and finished by applying mascara to the lashes.

The next time I do this I will use concealer for a base to make the colour more pigmented and use a larger range of colours so there is a greater emphasis on the smokey element of this look.

Straightened Hair

Rosie

I did a half up half down look by taking the upper section of the hair and tying it up. Before this I shampooed the hair twice, conditioned, then blow dried and straightened it.

I think the washing stage of creating this look went the best as it left the hair smooth and detangled, once it came to blowdrying this made things easier. The next time I work on hair I would like to use a curling iron to give a different, more glamorous end result.

Day Look – Assessment

Tyler

After learning about different eyeshadow looks I created this day look.

I used warm brown tones on the eyes and a light shimmer on the inner corners. I filled in the brows and painted a gloss on the lips. For the face I mixed a sheer foundation which I set with powder and applied a light bronze and highlight to the cheekbone.

I think that the face, eyes and lips all complement each other in a day look as I used neutral colours that gave the skin a glowing look. However to improve I would focus more on the brows in creating a better shape and fill them in more completely.

SFX Burn

Molly

By applying layers of liquid latex on each other then pulling it apart to create the effect of torn, peeling skin I made this burn look.

The technique that worked best was mixing small chunks of black face paint with fake blood to give the appearance of a thicker blood that sat deep in the skin. If doing this again I would re attempt making a blister on the face, I was unable to do this as I hadn’t layered enough latex to create a pocket for the petroleum jelly to go in.

SFX Beaten Look

I made a deep cut along the nose using scar wax to create a beaten look, this worked well as I used vaseline and a wooden spatula to smooth the wax out. I used fake blood to give the effect of grazed skin, it looked good as using liquid blood made it look fresh.

I could improve the look by working on creating fake bruises and the order in which I apply the colours. I started with darker blues, reds and purples, however it would have been best to start with lighter colours like yellow and green then build on top of that.

Day Look

Lacie

This was my first attempt at a day look, after watching a short tutorial I tried to recreate something similar. This was the first time I had done eyeshadow on someone else and I was quite pleased with the result. Using a buffing technique I blended neutral eyeshadows with a warm brown to create this natural look.
